Red Cross & the War Effort

Another HerStory of service: As the nation entered World War I, women’s clubs across America shifted their focus from cultural pursuits to critical wartime support. In Marion, club women answered the call with their hands and hearts, transforming their time and talents into acts of service for soldiers and relief efforts overseas.

The Red Cross building, pictured here from our photo collection, was located at 297 Mt. Vernon Ave. We know it now as Fuzzy's Flowers, Gifts, and Tuxedos.

OUR MISSION: Empowering women and enriching the community, while preserving the historic home and promoting the Club’s legacy.
