HerStory of homecoming: As World War I came to an end, communities across the nation prepared to welcome soldiers home. Train stations became powerful scenes of relief and reunion; brief but meaningful pauses on long journeys back to civilian life. In Marion, club women turned those short stops into moments of care and gratitude, ensuring that weary servicemen were met not just with cheers, but with warmth, nourishment, and heartfelt thanks.

Thank you to the Marion County Historical Society for the beautiful photo of the train station! The photo on the right is not a photo from Marion, but well represents the attitude of men stopping at the canteens in our town.

OUR MISSION: Empowering women and enriching the community, while preserving the historic home and promoting the Club’s legacy.
